THE IPSC SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP FOR GIRLS – 2022 (HOSTED BY RKK)



“Game of the Racket and the Ball”

Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School felt elated and honoured to host The IPSC Squash Championship for Girls Under 12, 14, 17 and 19 Categories from 7th to 9th December 2022. The school was geared up to conduct this spectacular three-day event proficiently and enthusiastically. 

This Championship was an opportunity for 85 young players to participate and strengthen in them the values of leadership and comradeship. The Championship was represented by following 7 elite IPSC Schools of the country:

1. Delhi Public School, RK Puram, Delhi (Delhi NCR)

2. Mayo College Girls' School, Ajmer (Rajasthan)

3. The Daly College, Indore (Madhya Pradesh)

4. The Emerald Heights International School, Indore (Madhya Pradesh)

5. The Lawrence School, Lovedale, Ooty (Tamil Nadu)

6. Yadavindra Public School, Patiala (Punjab)

7.  Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur (Host School)
 
At the core of it, this IPSC Squash Championship for Girls aimed to bring all the participants together and provide them a platform to compete at their best.

RKK reverberated with invigorating enthusiasm and pulsating life as two of the guest teams arrived on campus on December 5th, while the rest reached on December 6th, 2022. After duly completing the registrations, the Escorts and the Managers of all the participating teams gathered for a cordial and engaging interaction. The students plunged into action with their Court Orientation practices and March Past practice, respectively. Finally, the Principal’s Welcome Dinner marked the beginning of new friendships and associations, simultaneously building up anticipations of the forthcoming days.

December 7th, the first day of the championship commenced with The Opening Ceremony, which was presided over by Maj Gen C S Dewgun, YSM, GOC JOSA. Yuvrani Sahiba and General Sher Singh, Retired, had also graced the occasion.  After the Welcome Address by the School Vice Head Girl, Welcome Dance, the Chief Guest’s Address, and Administration of the Oath by Ma’am Principal, everyone subsequently witnessed the team events in the U-12, U-14, U-17, U-19 categories, respectively.

The second day kick-started with the finals of the team event. Thereafter, in the afternoon the individual event started with participants all revved up to put their best foot forward. A fierce and competitive battle ensued and each participant displayed an amazing blend of agility and enterprise. With the glory of the school in mind, the cut throat competition put everyone on the edge of their seats.

The third and final day commenced with the last and final round of the individual event and it was heartening to see the individuals play with brilliant perseverance and proficient ease. The three days sporting extravaganza ended with the Closing Ceremony. There was lowering of the Flag, the official Closing of the Championship and the much awaited Prize Distribution to felicitate the winners. The Closing dance followed by the departure of the teams to their respective Alma Mater brought this championship to a brilliant culmination.

The three days witnessed not only a battle between the racquet and the ball but also a wave of emotions. The Championship saw the participants oozing with enthusiasm and spirit to excel. 

There was a perfect display of constant running and following the ball, the singles and the doubles, the server and the receiver, short bursts of the speed, hard hitting, fine balance of hand and eye coordination etc. However, the Championship inculcated the values of togetherness, bonhomie and team spirit among the students and made them realize that a coordinated effort can bring incredible results, be it play field or daily life. 

Mr Vijay Jangra from Mayo College, Ajmer officiated as the IPSC Observer. Referees of the event - Mr Bhupendra Singh, Mr Jitendra Dutta, Mr Mohnish Dutta and Mr Jasmer Singh determined who outplayed the other with their surgical precision. RKK’s Team Coach, Mr Vijay Singh Parihar meticulously handled all the matches during these three days. Dr. Surbhi, the Physiotherapist, took care of all the medical interventions, comfort and strength given to the   injured players.

This Championship of Squash Championed the hearts, collecting a plethora of memories for life’s album, creating this epoch making event nothing less than a celebration.
