RS POSTCARD CALL HOSTED BY THE DOON SCHOOL, DEHRADUN

“A great democracy has to be progressive or it will soon cease to be great or a democracy” - Theodore Roosevelt.

Four students, Rani Patwari, Sumriddhi Sharma, Khwayshi Parihar and Deeksha Garg along with the Teacher Incharge, Mrs. Kalyani Banerjee from RKKGPS participated in the RS Postcard Call hosted by The Doon School, Dehradun on 10th February 2021 (Wednesday) at 6:30 pm IST on the topic – “Democracy and how it relates to situations and scenarios around us."

In advance, the students were asked to send a picture or a collage with a caption depicting how democracy is practiced in their school and surroundings. Each student of RKK sent separate collage with caption depicting democracy in every day school.

On the call, the students were warmly welcomed by the Doon School, followed by the presentation that included the pictures sent by them. Some students were asked to speak about their pictures. Later, the delegates were sent to different breakout rooms for about 20-25 minutes to have a detailed discussion on the topic and how democracy exhibited the daily functioning of their school in which the students had a formal discussion. Each student spoke about how democracy is practiced in their school and their experience in it. The participants also learnt the role of a democratic leader, small steps like taking responsibility, being active, participating in decision-making process, participating in school events and community based activities that enhance one’s ability to make decision and giving the weak  same chance as the strong. It was overall a great experience for all the delegates that provided them fruitful exposure to connect on an International Platform.
